Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team and be based in our Fort Collins, CO office.  As a Systems Engineer supporting our Air Force Communication System Programs, you will be a critical member of the Persistent Program Team.  You will support and facilitate system integration of Persistent products, test planning and execution, network design, RF mapping, Cyber Security, report generation and delivery, and responses to RFIs and RFPs.  You will play a pivotal role in communicating technical challenges and new requirements to our engineering department as you strive to solve problems. This role requires excellent communication skills as you will be required to work across the entire Persistent Systems team including Sales, Field Operations, Programs Management, Engineering, and Quality to provide customer solutions.     

 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Maintain an expert knowledge of Persistent Systems products in order to build customer relationships through interpreting and developing their requirements  
  • Integrate Persistent Systems products to meet complex system requirements 
  • Develop and carry out test procedures that determine that the outcome of the integration has met the requirements 
  • Convey system integration progress to the management team, and escalate issues and concerns expediently 
  • Identifying short-term and long-term customer issues; provide information and data pertinent to deliberations, and recommending options and courses of action   
  • Conduct Root Cause analysis to troubleshoot customers’ integrated system issues and collaborate with the product development and test engineers to resolve technical issues.  
  • Developing test plans, methodologies followed by final reports and summaries for both internal developers and external customers  
  • Educating the organization and clients about the system and hardware integration procedure, its implementation, and its use. 
  • Track and carry out integration tasks to ensure that systems integration on Persistent System’s products are functional. 
  • Defining integration strategies and methods and then planning them in accordance with established deadlines and time schedules 
  • Creating and providing technical documentation that explains upcoming or existing integrations to non-technical individuals 
  • Provide technical updates to customers for new products and firmware improvements 
  • Developing technical portions of responses to RFI / RFP and other similar customer requirements  

Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering 
  • Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.100-200 Engineering Drawing Practices
  • 4 years of experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent 3D modeling programs
  • Experience with RF communications and/or network system integration  
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis   
  • Proficiency in technical concepts such as wireless, mobile IP, RF propagation with an understanding of hardware and software concepts  
  • Proficiency in networking concepts such as IP routing and switching and VPN architectures  
  • Understanding of product development and systems architecture design  
  • Experience working directly with customers and end users  
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbal  
  • Must be available to travel up to 25% of the time  
  • Ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance  

    

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or software engineering 
  • Proficiency using programing languages such as Python, C, C++, Java  
  • Net+, Sec+, CCNA, or CWNA certifications  
  • Experience with RF mapping and planning tools such as Cloud RF 
  • Experience with wireless concepts such as MANET, Mesh, Ad-hoc, protocols and web architecture, with an understanding of hardware and software concepts  
  • Proficiency in advanced technical software packages such as Wireshark and/or MATLAB  
  • DoD Information Operations and Cyber Security experience  
  • Must possess an active Secret US Security Clearance  

 

The pay for this role can vary from $117,000 to $146,000 a year based on the selected individual's education and experience.
