Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our world class production and operations team at our headquarters in NYC.  The Quality Engineer will ensure the product lifecycle meets the end-to-end quality standards, from design to manufacturing to delivery. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and suppliers to support compliance, improve processes, and ensure customer satisfaction.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues
  • Perform internal audits and process inspections to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer statutory requirements
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure manufacturability and quality alignment
  • Collaborate with engineering during product development to define and implement quality requirements
  • Monitor manufacturing data to identify trends and areas for process improvement
  • Conduct periodic supplier audits for ensuring quality, compliance, and risk management in the supply chain
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAI) and qualification of new products
  • Manage quality-related change controls and update documentation as needed
  • Support supplier quality through audits, evaluations, and nonconformance management
  • Address customer complaints and ensure effective resolution of quality concerns
  • Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies  
  • Ensure compliance with industry and government quality regulations, such as Defense Contract Management (DCMA).  
  • Prepare reports on quality metrics, providing recommendations to management

Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Must have a United States security clearance or the ability to obtain a United States security clearance.
  • Associate’s degree in engineering or related field or min. 5 years’ experience in quality engineering or in a technical environment, with exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, and product development processes
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong understanding of quality tools (e.g., root cause analysis, FMEA, CAPA, control plans)
  • Understand the application of the principles, procedures of ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality systems
  • Demonstrate experience with information management systems, such as ERP/MRP/SAP
  • Effective communication skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and collaborative teamwork in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Six Sigma certified, Green Belt or higher
  • Experience with electronics or software-based products
  • Exposure to programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL)

 

The base pay for this role can vary from $85,000 to $106,000 a year based on individual qualifications. Eligibility for yearly discretionary bonus.
