Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is looking for a Procurement Engineering Intern for the summer of 2025 to join our team in our Manhattan NYC headquarters.   The Procurement Engineering Intern will work with our procurement and engineering teams to research and identify supplier parts and components for rapid integration into our new product lines.  This role will require involvement in a multifunctional environment within engineering, supply chain, operations, and quality. 

 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Conduct cost/risk analysis across our product lines
  • Upkeep product development schedules
  • Navigate supplier selection for specific products with both new and current suppliers
  • Create trade-off matrixes to present to engineering teams
  • Write clear statements of work for vendors with milestones that align with internal goals
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand project specifications and procurement needs
  • Complete BOM risk assessment, including sourcing alternate components
  • Execute Purchase Orders
  • Complete vendor NDA’s
  • Review technical specifications and drawings to ensure alignment with project requirements and engineering standards
  • Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, including issuing purchase orders, tracking shipments, and resolving delivery issues
  • Monitor supplier performance, conducting regular audits and evaluations to assess compliance with contract terms and quality standards
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in procurement operations, implementing best practices and efficiency measures
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage ad-hoc cost issues e.g., tariffs / import export cost, and cost inflation

 

Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Enrolled and pursuing or possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain/logistics, economics, or business-related program
  • Ability to learn and apply technical knowledge rapidly
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders and effectively convey technical requirements and project objectives
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must possess a United States security clearance or the ability to obtain a United States security clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Enrolled and pursuing or possess a master’s degree in engineering, supply chain/logistics, economics, or business-related program
  • Prior internship experience in product development
  • Prior internship experience in operations

 

The pay for this role will vary from $25 to $30 an hour based on the selected individual's experience.
