Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our team in Fort Collins, CO.  As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be a critical member of the Persistent Systems Integration Engineering team, working closely with the Program Management Office, Business Development leads, and Engineering to solve our customer’s most difficult mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) problems. You will serve as a technical lead and subject-matter expert in the development of MANET and enterprise architectures for the Sentinel ICBM system and be responsible for all technical aspects of Wave Relay® MANET solutions offered to our customers. You will also play a pivotal role in communicating technical challenges to our engineering department, helping to shape future product development with your insight into customer challenges and market needs.  The Senior Wireless Network Architect will work from the Fort Collins, CO office. 

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Account Managers to architect, implement and support network solutions utilizing Wave Relay® and Cloud Relay™ in order to drive winning sales strategies to meet customer requirements 
  • Architect, implement and support network solutions utilizing Wave Relay® and Cloud Relay™ 
  • Support and facilitate the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring of network and communications equipment including, but not limited to, the Wave Relay® suite of products and third-party switches, routers, and UPS systems  
  • Lead proactive, continuous improvement of existing network solutions  
  • Design solutions to meet customer requirements, including enterprise network design, IP schemes, and network integration.  
  • Develop long-term customer relationships with project clients through managing and interpreting requirements  
  • Provide project technical assistance, product education, and training  
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex networking systems  
  • Support requests for information (RFI) and requests for proposal (RFP) technical solutions and responses 
  • Develop long-term customer relationships with clients through managing and interpreting their requirements 
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Persistent Systems products to develop and present unique solutions, and maintain knowledge of emerging trends in technology and online advertising 
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Engineering on contractual deliverables 
  • Provide guidance and requirements for customers including network device implementations, security solutions, and custom installations that meet customer requirements 

Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience  
  •  6+ years of experience in Network Engineering and administration 
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or similar certification or experience   
  • Strong understanding of network concepts such as Spanning-Tree (802.1d/802.1w), EIGRP, OSPF, PIM, IGMPv2, IPsec, IKEv2, and MACsec. 
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking 
  • Familiar with using tools for data gathering such as Wireshark, iPerf, TCPdump, etc. 
  • Experience in conceptualizing, developing and presenting technical presentations to large groups of customers 
  • Experience analyzing network applications for communications systems. (Familiar with network architecture and analyses) 
  • Must be willing and able to travel 50% of the time 
  • Must have a US Security Clearance (Secret or Higher) 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience  
  •  10+ years of experience in Network Engineering 
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), or similar certification or experience 
  • Experience with MANET or Wave Relay® technologies  
  • Experience with configuration management  
  • Experience with development network simulation environments 
  • Experience with Linux and FRRouting 
  • Familiar with Shortest Path Bridging (802.1aq) protocol and advanced switching configurations 
  • Experience with Cloud Services such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud 
  • DoD 8750 Certified IAT Level 2 
  • Familiarization with DoD systems and subsystems (e.g., weapons platforms, C2ISR platforms, SATCOM, IFF, RADAR, radios, data links, munitions) 

 

Total compensation for this role can vary from $120,000 to $140,000 a year based on the selected individual's education and experience.
