Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is seeking a Director of Business Development who will work from our New York City headquarters and be responsible for growing business by identifying and establishing new customer relationships, as well as maintaining our existing ones for our Public Safety vertical. You will also be responsible for capturing business, managing high revenue accounts and assisting with programmatic measures to ensure that customers receive the best products and services available for their needs. Additionally, you will be tasked with creating and implementing strategies that will expand Persistent Systems’ customer base on a global scale.



  • Identifying potential new customers and developing customer relationships
  • Developing sales strategies and unique selling propositions to meet sales targets
  • Collaborating with Sales and Engineering to identify new product opportunities
  • Developing and retaining existing customer relationships by presenting solutions to meet customer needs, ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Managing key accounts after the initial sale
  • Creating business proposals, handling initial negotiations, and closing business deals as part of a team
  • Identifying industry and marketing events and trade shows that will provide opportunities to expand the company’s customer base
  • Organizing and traveling to trade shows to identify new business opportunities and strengthen current customer relationships
  • Conducting presentations for large groups of internal and external stakeholders

Job Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of Sales/Business Development experience with commercial and/or Government customers
  • Experience in a senior-level sales role working with customers in the public safety industry
  • Experience leading sales teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) and network theory
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Applicant must have a United States Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a United States Security Clearance



  • Master’s degree in Business or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in Sales/Business Development with a demonstrated track record of revenue growth
  • Demonstrated experience growing and maintaining the customer base for a United States Department of Defense (DoD) contractor
